The Law Center, S.C., is excited to announce that it has added a new associate attorney to the firm, Anne Daugherty-Leiter (there is no relation to the firm’s partner, Emily Dudak Leiter; it is just an interesting coincidence). Anne has substantial experience in employment law, as an attorney and as a human resources director. Prior to joining The Law Center, she acted as a private consultant to a Madison-based health care IT consulting firm regarding issues of workplace management, personnel, compliance, termination and severance agreements, and employee training, particularly sexual harassment.  She has a particular interest right now in workplace issues related to COVID-19.

Anne also dealt with issues of employment law during her 12 years at Vivent Health, formerly the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW) and AIDS Network, first as a staff and lead attorney, then as the Director of Legal Services, and finally as the Director of HR. Her work included issues of employment discrimination.

Besides employment law, Anne also has a special interest in school law, LGBTQ rights, and international adoption. Anne has also run her own specialty law firm, which focused on high-impact litigation involving animal rights.

Anne earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and her undergraduate degree from Mary Washington College.  She is active in the State Bar of Wisconsin, having served on boards and as chairperson.  She is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (“SHRM”) and is a SHRM Certified Senior Professional (SHRM-SCP).

The Law Center, S.C., d/b/a The Law Center for Children & Families and Winter Law Office, has offices in Madison and Oregon, Wisconsin, and practices statewide in the following areas: adoption, assisted reproduction, child custody and placement, divorce/dissolution, foster parent and grandparent rights, immigration and citizenship, life and estate planning, probate, LGBTQ rights, school law, business law, real estate transactions, and taxation.  For more information, go to www.lawcenterwisconsin.com.
